Hey Presto! - Prism control bifocals

A very traditional concept re-packaged, with the demise of the solid 30 prism control bifocal. Norville have expanded their use of the Presto technique to develop a FT28 bifocal option, allowing the Optician to independently prescribe prescription and prism requirements for distance and near. Bringing these two lenses together either as a Flat Top 25, 28 or even 35mm segment provides a separate prism segment to be popped into the carrier distance lens. Allowing the practice to prescribe well over 10D prism at near, with no prism in distance, or any combination in most resin materials. Just ask us for Presto prism control.

HD Super-lenti

The blended lentic has been available for a number of years in glass and some resin derivatives. The latter, however, were always somewhat disappointing, as they were primarily available in standard CR39; roll forward 25 years and Super-lenti can now be delivered in most resin indices up to 1.76 and is manufactured in HD digital form up to -32.00D index dependent. Some remarkable looking lenses have been produced not only in single vision but progressives as well.

Occupational HD Progressives

HD digital manufacturing in some ways has restricted prescription ranges in a number of lens forms; it has however enabled us to re-think some long discontinued lens forms and allowed us to develop some new ones. Including the Ultor double up/down progressive along with the Pilotor 38 segment bifocal to top with HD standard progressive to the rear with a number of other combinations to give us a regenerated occupational dispensing portfolio.

XXL HD Progressive

We have been challenged for 30 years + with patients requiring large frames 58 eye and above but sporting the narrowest of PD’s. With due diligence the dispenser calculates the required progressive diameter only to find they require a 90mm lens! In days gone by, after a quick call to their supplier, the patient’s dreams quickly fell apart. Roll the clock on to more recent times and the development of the HD digital surfacing platform has enabled us to manufacture the offset progressive, moving the working parts bodily in and up as required. We can now supply an effective 100mm lens diameter! Please remember, however, the laws of physics cannot be changed even by digital manufacturing! So if the patient’s Rx is on the high side, then then any lens of this diameter has the potential to be thick, although the good news is that today you can have the XXL treatment in any index up to 1.76.

Slab-off Prism on HD Progressive

The traditional slab-off to control vertical prism has also been improved by digital surfacing. Employing the Ultor progressive design, we can make the slab-off line appear anywhere from the top of the reading portion upwards towards the major reference point. To reduce the amount of prism we have to slab off, our process will allow us to slab on in one eye and slab off in the other, rendering an almost invisible line at the transition point. Again, this is available in any index of resin material.

Polarised inclusive of Graduated Tint

Designed to reflect the fashion in larger aviator designs aimed at both the ladies and gents markets, Norville’s new offer of a polarised lens with a tint that graduates from dark to mid dark at the bottom of the lens has already attracted a lot of attention following its launch last month.

Polarising axis demonstrator

Allowing the opticians to effectively check the axis of polarisation on a mounted polarised sun spectacle. This is important as if the polarised axis has been mounted even slightly (outside +/- 5 degrees) off it can reduce the effectiveness of the polarisation for the wearer.

Drivewear in Trivex

Trivex is a great new addition to the Drivewear lens range, allowing us to use Drivewear Transitions Polarised lenses to be mounted in rimless and sports wrap frames and offering impressive impact resistance as well as lightness and great optical performance.

We are sure the release of Drivewear in Trivex will open new selling opportunities for what is arguably the best driving lens in the world.

E-Line in Resin 1.67!

Demand for the E-style bifocal design has been slowly falling away as progressives have eaten into the bifocal market. However, not only has it always enjoyed some dedicated users to its magnificent wide reading area but also with the arrival of digital manufacturing these same patients can benefit from dramatically improved optical performance combined with a dramatically thinner lens form thanks to our new 1.67 index release.
